We started SFN_MFG because we kept running into the same problem: getting a physical part made was either too slow, too expensive, or required minimum orders that made no sense for a one-person operation or a small team. San Diego has a thriving maker and engineering community, and we wanted to build something that served it — and everyone else who needs real parts without the runaround.

Additive manufacturing works by building parts layer by layer from a digital model. Unlike traditional subtractive methods — where material is cut away from a block — 3D printing adds only what's needed, reducing waste and enabling geometries that would be impossible or prohibitively expensive to machine. One part costs almost the same to make as ten. No dies, no molds, no setup fees.
